Saint Mary’s Announces Two Administrative Appointments

Saint Mary’s College is pleased to announce two new appointments to college administration. Todd Norris has been selected as the college’s chief information officer (CIO) and will oversee integration of operations of information technology and the library. Saint Mary’s welcomes Michael Fleming, PhD, to the position of director of institutional research and assessment.

Todd Norris

Norris has served as registrar since 2010 and had taken on the role interim CIO while continuing his duties as Registrar for the past nine months. He has worked in academic and student services for 18 years including positions at Jefferson Community College, Indiana University, and Grace College. He attended Taylor University where he earned his BA in psychology and later earned his MA in counseling psychology from Trinity International University. Norris has demonstrated a commitment to excellent service to students and has tremendous respect for the faculty and staff. As CIO, Norris will report directly to the president and will serve as a member of the cabinet.

“Todd Norris has done an exceptional job as interim CIO while continuing his duties as Registrar,” President Jan Cervelli said. “His strong skills in team building, collaboration, and communication, make him the ideal candidate to inspire innovations across the College’s excellent library and information and instructional technology units. Such innovation is essential to our students as they enter a technology-driven world.”

Michael Fleming

Michael Fleming, PhD, will assume the position of director of institutional research and assessment in July. He will lead and serve as the college’s primary resource in analyzing, synthesizing, and supporting accreditation and certification programs, as well as institutional data. A Los Angeles native, Fleming has more than 20 years of experience in educational instruction and administration, including institutional effectiveness, research, assessment, and planning. He has worked with and consulted for institutions from small liberal arts to research universities and also served as accreditation liaison for several higher education institutions. Fleming earned his BA in Political Science from Morehouse College, and both his MS and PhD in higher education and organizational change from UCLA.

“Saint Mary’s College is indeed fortunate to have someone of such vast experience in both institutional research and assessment,” Cervelli said. “Michael will play a key role in helping advance the college’s strategic plan and its position as a premier college offering undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal arts, STEM, and professional fields.”
