$13.5M TIGER Grant for Bridge Replacement

The City of Anderson has been awarded a $13.5 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to help fund Eisenhower Bridge replacement work in Madison County. The funds will cover 75 percent of the $18 million cost to replace the bridge, which was built in nearly 50 years ago and is now structurally deficient.

U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) supported the project in a letter to the U.S. DOT, and said that restoring the bridge will revitalize the local economy given that the bridge is a critical transportation route for job access and essential services. Currently, Anderson officials have not specified a timeframe for construction.
