The DeKalb Health Board of Directors has selected Tasha Eicher as its new chief executive officer. Eicher has been serving as interim CEO since Craig Polkow resigned the post the 1st of the year. Eicher’s appointment took effect on March 16, 2018.

Eicher will hold the distinction as the first female to serve as CEO in the hospital’s 54-year history. She has been at DeKalb Health since September 2015, previously serving as vice president of physician services, strategy, and development.

DeKalb Health, located in Auburn, Indiana is a full service, 56-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community hospital serving northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio, and the surrounding communities.

Eicher brings more than 20 years of progressive healthcare experience.

In 1998, Eicher began her career in healthcare at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio, while attending college. She worked in health information management as an assistant director and supervisor.

Eicher later joined Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she served as director of Health Information Management, Case Management, and the Sleep Center.

She broadened her experience once again with a move to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee where she served

in two different roles at the request of the Chief Operating Officer: OR business director and director of clinical operations. During her tenure, Eicher managed the operating budgets of the OR and CVOR. She provided business analytics, assisted managers, and directors with oversight of daily business operations, vendor relationships, and contracts.

Before coming to DeKalb Health Eicher most recently worked at Lutheran Medical Group as the executive director of cardiovascular services, where she was responsible for oversight of daily operations, contract negotiations, physician productivity, business development and outreach clinics.

“My unique path of beginning entry level and working my way throughout helps me understand the importance of each role in the hospital and how it affects our patients and our team,” said Eicher. “I pride myself on being a servant leader.”

Our board is very pleased to select Tasha as chief executive officer,” commented DeKalb Health Board Chair Dr. Doug Morrow. “Tasha has led numerous strategic initiatives in her leadership role at DeKalb Health.

“We were impressed by Tasha’s expertise in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors of healthcare that includes all aspects of management, physician relations, fiscal and clinical operations, as well as her desire to lead in the continued success of DeKalb Health.” Morrow shared.

Eicher majored in Business at Western Governors University where she received a Bachelor’s in Business and Master of Business Administration. She also holds an Associate’s degree in Business from Northwest State Community College in Archbold, Ohio.
