Bubbles Ice Cream Parlor Celebrates 15 Years

Bubbles Ice Cream Parlor owners Tim, Kim and Zachary Martin have been dishing out sweet and frosty treats for 15 seasons just as the delectable delight shines during the month of July.

“As the summer reaches peak temperatures in July, Americans celebrate National Ice Cream Month as a way to cool off and enjoy the nation’s favorite frozen treat with friends and family,” Kim said of the monthlong event that peaks on July 15. The national holiday was proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.

“Bubbles will observe National Ice Cream Month as well as our 15th birthday with special red, white and blue ice cream confections,” she said. “Look for a firecracker sundae – all decked out in patriotic colors and topped with pop rocks candy as well as an all-American EPIC milkshake.”

The family-owned business, 115 W. Coolspring Ave., features 32 hand-dipped super premium ice cream flavors and Dole Whips. On weekend mornings, fresh-made donuts are also available.

“Our top-selling flavor is ‘This $&@! Just Got Serious’ – a salted caramel ice cream filled with sea salt fudge chunks and salted cashews,” Kim said. “Ice cream shops continue to be a mainstay of communities and most are family-owned.”

This concept was the catalyst to the Martins opening the doors of Bubbles in April 2004. Kim said the pull of old-fashioned ice cream as well as a good-natured dare led to the business’s opening.

“We were in the backyard commiserating about jobs and life and how there was nowhere to go to get ice cream,” she said. “My husband said there’s a piece of property for sale and I said, ‘I dare you to go buy it’ and the rest is history.”
