Ice Miller Adds to Litigation Practice

Ice Miller LLP recently announced that it has added Roya Porter to the firm’s litigation practice.

Porter served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Tanya Walton Pratt, District Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana before joining Ice Miller. As a clerk, Porter conducted legal research and prepared entries on legal matters that included patent infringement, contracts, tax, antitrust, civil rights, personal injury, consumer credit, discovery matters and criminal and other regulatory areas at different stages of litigation. She also assisted with courtroom proceedings.

Porter also worked as a contract attorney for the Indiana Civil Rights Commission where she reviewed civil rights complaints and investigations and drafted findings on probable cause. Previously, she was a federal tax consultant for Deloitte Tax LLP. In this role, she provided federal and state tax compliance and consulting services to corporate, partnership and individual clients; researched and analyzed a wide-range of issues related to business transactions and tax implications; and prepared corporate, trust and individual tax returns as well as federal and state estimated payments.

“We are very excited to welcome Roya to the Firm,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner for Ice Miller. “Her experience across a wide variety of legal matters, including her experience with both federal and state tax matters, is an asset to the firm and our clients.”

Porter earned her juris doctor, cum laude, from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2015. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Tanya Walton Pratt and clerked for Duke Energy Corporation, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Indiana Office of the Attorney General, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. She graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a bachelor’s in finance in 2009.
