Ivy Tech Names Exec. Dir. of Employee Diversity

Ivy Tech Community College named Doneisha Posey as executive director of Employee Diversity, Equity and Belonging. This newly created position will serve as the college’s diversity and equity compliance officer and will be responsible for working with teams across campuses and Systems Office to establish a workplace culture that promotes success and belonging for every Ivy Tech employee. Posey will be responsible for designing creative ideas to increase employee engagement and will measure Ivy Tech’s effectiveness in serving the needs of faculty and staff.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in the inaugural role as the executive director of Employee Diversity, Equity and Belonging,” Posey said. “Ivy Tech is a diverse and vibrant community, and I look forward to building upon – and contributing to – Ivy Tech’s commitment to diversity, equity and belonging by working collaboratively across all campuses to foster an inclusive climate for all employees.”

Prior to Ivy Tech, Posey served as deputy director and general counsel of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. She also serves as an adjunct law professor at Indiana University McKinney School of Law where she teaches Housing Discrimination and Segregation as well as Race and the Law.

Posey’s career includes serving as legal advisor for the Governor’s Commission on Minority and Women Business Enterprises, administrative law judge at the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and immigration litigation attorney in private practice.

“As we continue building a culture of connectedness with students and employees at Ivy Tech, Doneisha will put her civil rights and legal backgrounds to great use,” said Doran Moreland, Interim vice president for Diversity, Equity and Belonging. “The experience of feeling cared about, accepted, respected and valued is vitally important. We aim for excellence at Ivy Tech, both as an educational institution and as a place of work.”

As a native of Indianapolis, Posey holds her Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Additionally, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Political Science and Global Studies from Marian University.
