New Life for Muncie’s Old Sears Building

New Life for Muncie’s Old Sears Building

Roebuck LLC has announced plans for a $7.5 million redevelopment of the former Sears building and parking lot in Muncie, which has received approval from the Muncie Redevelopment Commission. The project involves 42 residential housing units, which city officials have said is a great addition to its downtown housing portfolio, and also more than 20,000 square feet of commercial space. Also, the company announced that it will be adding about 45,000 square feet of new space to the building as well as improving its façade.

In an economic development agreement between the city and Roebuck, the city will transfer the parking lot to the company after Roebuck has fully financed the project. TIF funds will be used once the project is in its final phases.
