The joint venture between Buckingham, a national vertically integrated real estate investment company, and Onyx+East, a full-service homebuilder, has broken ground on the first build-to-rent (BTR) community in Brownsburg. The new development, part of Buckingham’s Mural Collection, will feature 165 maintenance-free single-family homes available for rent at Mural Brownsburg.
Phase I of Mural Brownsburg’s development is underway at the intersection of US 136 and Northfield Drive. The 3- and 4-bedroom homes will range from 1,572 to 2,086 square feet and include 2-3.5 bathrooms and private outdoor spaces. Renters can expect to see the stylish, well-designed homes Onyx+East is known for, bringing an urban experience to suburban living in the heart of Brownsburg. Under Buckingham’s property management, all Mural Brownsburg home and yard maintenance is included, and residents can enjoy walking paths, a neighborhood clubhouse and pool.
“The burgeoning build-to-rent space represents a perfect blend between the convenience of rental living and single-family home ownership,” said Buckingham Senior Vice President of Investments Justin Brown. “We are thrilled to bring our 40+ years of investment strength and expertise into this growing real estate sector with Onyx+East, offering a new purpose-built single-family rental product nationwide.”
Mural Brownsburg will be ideal for residents who want the space and privacy of single-family living without the high cost, commitment and maintenance of home ownership.
“Buckingham has a decades-long track record of performance. We are elated to partner with them on this community,” said Jake Dietrich, Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for Onyx+East. “At a time when single-family homes are in short supply, we are building 165 new homes right here in our backyard with a trusted multifamily real estate firm.”
Mural Brownsburg marks the first build-to-rent venture for both Onyx+East and Buckingham. The first Mural Brownsburg units will be available for rent beginning in October 2025 with the leasing center and a model home available to tour starting in late fall.
