Carolina Commercial, a full-service real estate advisory firm based in Charlotte, has expanded its national footprint in March by opening a new regional office in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, which will be led by the company’s new Director of Leasing, Mishelle Conti. Conti will lead the company’s leasing efforts nationwide.
Conti joins Carolina Commercial from Regency Properties, a commercial real estate company in Evansville. There she most recently served as a Senior Director of Leasing and Managing Broker. In that role, she managed a portfolio of 61 properties totaling more than six million square feet across 19 states. She focused on attracting retail options to Regency’s portfolio of properties, particularly in smaller county seat communities and tertiary markets, aligning closely with Carolina Commercial’s core business strategy.
As Director of Leasing, Conti will lead the firm’s leasing execution across its portfolio. She will work with senior leadership and clients, ensuring diligent and consistent execution of the innovative strategies Carolina Commercial clients have grown to appreciate.
Carolina Commercial functions as an embedded real estate, construction and finance partner for its clients, specializing in repositioning shopping centers with large vacancies in secondary and tertiary markets. Its services include leasing, property and portfolio management, development, construction and more. To date, the firm has participated in thousands of lease transactions and more than 30 ground-up development and redevelopment projects. Its leasing partners include TJ Maxx, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Burlington, Ulta Beauty, Five Below, Ross, Dollar Tree, Walmart, Harris Teeter and Aldi.
In February 2026, Carolina Commercial broke ground on an $18 million revitalization of the 250,000 square-foot Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton, N.C., the firm’s most comprehensive undertaking to date. The redevelopment will transform the property into an open-air shopping center featuring new anchor tenants including TJ Maxx, Burlington and Five Below, with additional announcements coming soon. At the rebranded Biggs Park, the firm has been engaged to oversee leasing, construction, property and asset management, and ongoing daily operations for the property. In another recent project in Farmville, N.C., Carolina Commercial leased a former Food Lion location that had been vacant for more than 15 years to Tractor Supply, which opened its doors to customers on Black Friday 2025.
“Mishelle is a highly accomplished professional with tremendous experience in leasing shopping centers in the types of markets where we excel,” said Joe Maguire, Principal of Carolina Commercial. “She’s creative and can quickly identify how to reposition a property and find qualified prospects to lease available spaces. Her work ethic and her passion for dealmaking make her an ideal fit for our company and culture.”
An Evansville native, Conti holds her Indiana Real Estate License and brings with her more than 13 years of experience in commercial real estate and fostering national tenant relationships. She has built her career on developing and executing leasing strategies across expansive, geographically diverse portfolios while managing a wide range of projects at once. Prior to joining Carolina Commercial, Conti served as Agent/Owner at American Family Insurance in Evansville. She is an active member of both the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana. Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her daughters, Michaela and Jaslynn, her fiancé, Reece, and her family. She also enjoys boating at the lake, gardening, going to concerts and shopping.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Carolina Commercial as Director of Leasing and to work alongside such a talented and genuinely wonderful group of people,” Conti said. “I appreciate the value Carolina Commercial places on everyone rolling up their sleeves and doing the hard work for the betterment of their properties, even if that means washing windows. It’s refreshing to see a company be so fully invested in creating meaningful retail experiences for the communities it serves.”
Conti will represent the company at the International Council of Shopping Centers' ICSC@Carolinas Conference at the Charlotte Convention Center.
