Cancer Support Community Indiana announced the appointment of Heather Perry, CFRE, as its new President and CEO. Perry brings more than 25 years of fundraising and nonprofit leadership experience, including over 14 years in healthcare philanthropy, to the organization.
Perry most recently served in C-suite leadership at University of Florida Health–St. Johns, where she led philanthropic strategy as Vice President of Fundraising and Executive Director. In this role, she was a member of the healthcare system’s executive team and oversaw major fundraising initiatives, board governance, financial operations, and community relations. Prior to that, Perry held senior development and operational leadership roles at Indiana University Health, where she successfully led comprehensive fundraising programs alongside finance and operations functions.
Throughout her career, Perry has demonstrated expertise across major and planned giving, capital campaigns, grateful patient programs, physician giving, and medical hospitality and concierge services. She has a proven track record of scaling fundraising programs to support growing systems and advancing initiatives tied to new hospital facilities, staff and nursing scholarships, mental health services, and social determinants of health.
“Heather brings a rare combination of deep healthcare philanthropy experience, operational leadership, and a clear, people-first approach,” said John Langham, Interim CEO and Board Member of Cancer Support Community Indiana. “She understands what it takes to build strong teams, align stakeholders around a shared mission, and ensure organizations are positioned to meet both current and future community needs. We are confident her leadership will strengthen our impact and guide Cancer Support Community Indiana into its next chapter.”
Perry is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and holds the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential. Known as a straightforward and collaborative communicator, she is skilled at bringing people together around key initiatives and leading organizations through growth and change.
“I am honored to step into the role of President and CEO at Cancer Support Community Indiana,” Perry said. “The organization’s mission to ensure no one faces cancer alone deeply resonates with me. I look forward to working alongside the board, staff, volunteers, and community partners to build on the organization’s strong foundation and expand access to compassionate support for individuals and families affected by cancer.”
