Over 300 women and their supporters gathered recently for an evening of connection, collaboration and community at Women Take the Field, a signature networking event hosted by the Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association (NWIIWA).
Held at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, the event, which was supported by over 50 co-sponsors, combined professional relationship-building with the excitement of live baseball as attendees cheered on the Gary SouthShore RailCats during their matchup with the Chicago Dogs. The unique setting provided a refreshing alternative to traditional networking events, allowing emerging and seasoned professionals from a wide range of industries to engage in meaningful connections while enjoying one of America’s favorite pastimes.
“Some of the most valuable professional relationships are built when people have the chance to connect in a relaxed and authentic environment,” said Aida Abuelizam, NWIIWA Board Chair. “Events like Women Take the Field bring together coworkers, friends, mentors and industry peers in a setting where conversations happen naturally and meaningful connections can take root.”
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed VIP treatment, including a luxury suite experience featuring food, beverages and a great view of the action on the field. One of the highlights of the evening came when NWIIWA attendees were invited onto the field for an exclusive opportunity to walk or run the bases. The experience offered a fun way to celebrate the spirit of the event, while group photos taken throughout the evening captured the energy and camaraderie that developed from the unique networking opportunity.
For NWIIWA, the evening represented the organization’s commitment to creating opportunities that foster professional growth and build a stronger, more connected community of women leaders.
“When people share an experience like this, barriers come down and conversations become more genuine,” said Andrea Pearman, NWIIWA Executive Director. “Meeting new professionals can sometimes feel intimidating and awkward, but creating opportunities to connect in a fun and memorable setting makes those relationships easier to build and more likely to last.”
Women Take the Field is one of several events hosted by NWIIWA throughout the year to support professional development, leadership growth and empowerment for women at every stage of their journey.
